This will be a highly interactive roundtable session during which we will discuss planned new features and solicit your feedback. Part of the session will focus on features in the upcoming Encompix 10.0 release, which will introduce a new .NET-based user interface to Encompix. In addition, we will be looking at features for future releases as we move forward in our planning process. This session is intended for experienced Encompix users who want to participate in the product development process.

We will discuss best practices, as well as how to secure your database, application and hardware from failure. We will also review backup procedures online, offline and incrementally. Finally, we’lltake a close look at what block devices backups do and why they are okay to “snapshot” your database, whereas typical OS backups require you to shut down the database This session is perfect for attendees with the following job roles: systems and/or database administrators. By the end of this session, you will:
- Understand what the online backup process backs up and how to increase the frequency of the backup (if necessary).

We will begin with an overview of the current capabilities offered by our various engineering interfaces, then move into a panel discussion with customers who are using those offerings. We will cover essential information that will enable you to build a custom query and use it with a customized version of an existing Crystal Report. Understanding the Encompix database is important for successful use of the new custom queries, so it may be beneficial for you to supplement this with either of the “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Encompix 9.50 Database (Operations or Finance)” sessions. This session will be perfect for attendees with the following job roles: power user, report writer and/or database administrator. By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Build a custom query to gather additional data for an existing Crystal Report.
- Use the custom data set to enhance an existing Crystal Report.

Much of this session will utilize our Entity Relationship Diagram and our Table Descriptions document to reveal how data flows through the system. This session will cover essential information that will enable you to build custom reports and would be an excellent supplement to the “Customizing Crystal Reports” session. This session is perfect for attendees with the following job roles: power user, report writer and/or database administrator. By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Read an Encompix Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD),
- Understand terminology as it applies to table linkages.
- Understand key tables in the Operations area of the Encompix database and on what type of report they would be used.
- Apply knowledge about how the Encompix database is structured when building a custom report.

- Understand what tuning parameters are available in your version of OpenEdge (Progress).
- Optimize those settings.
